The Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police were contacted by a wildlife rehabilitator in Watertown last week, who reported that a black vulture had recently been shot, suffering a broken wing.
According to the veterinarian, “vultures are known to be excellent runners and the animal may have been shot in Watertown or a surrounding town.” It is illegal to hunt or shoot black vultures.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, or who knows the person who shot the bird has been asked to contact the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police emergency dispatch center by calling (860) 424-3333 or 800-842-4357 and reference EnCon Police Case 18-3239.
